This photograph taken at the Kokerboom Observatory in Springbok through the 12″ Newtonian reflector at around 00:00 the morning on the 18th of June 2009. In this photograph, the halo around the nucleus of the Sombrero can clearly be seen. This galaxy is 30 million light years from us. It is receding from us at 1000 km’s each second!

………….En die HALFMENS het weer geloer……….! Dis n wolkbank van koue op die horison. Beteken net een ding! Goeie reen maak die klein oogies van die veldblomme weer wakker. Net betyds om te sien dat die Rock en Rollers al hoe nader kruip in die nag. Gereed vir die makietie van die jaar.

Waar Halfmense almal met mekaar oor die weg kom en ieder en elk saam met die melodie in die skemer nag die woorde van elke lied oor en oor herhaal….hoekom? NET OMDAT HULLE KAN

Almal is in die veld en die musiek hop teen elke graniet bank!!!!

Good day all my guests and friends

Did you know that there is only 53 days left till the first ever rockfest and computicket sales in Springbok Namaqualand!

Also we arranged the following for your convenience: a over-lander truck to take 16 happy rockers to the festival from Cape Town for only R300 pp return ticket.

We are also looking for the best Air-Guitar player on our festival Saturday……..so please start practicing.

This photo of the sun rising behind the rocky outcrops of Springbok, were taken with the 12″ Newtonian telescope at 8:00 on the 4th of June 2009, from the Kokerboom Observatory. The sun is badly out of focus to enable the rocks to be in focus.
